Cassia Angustifolia
Senna is an Arabian name possessing antibacterial properties and used widely as bowel booster. It is cultivated in dry lands of southern and western India, especially in Tamilnadu in large quantities. It is perennial shrub growing below 1.2m height with ascending branches. The leaves are feathery with pairs of leaflets. Flowers are yellow and the pods are straight. Its pods, stems and leaves are used medicinally. The leaves of senna contain flavanols and anthraquniones.
