MONITORING

IFTR assists in helping the CSR arms of Companies, Company-NGO partnership, Foundation, Community Development Teams, Government in monitoring the progress of a particular programme against the defined goals. Third party Monitoring and Evaluation helps in assessing what is working and what is not from a neutral external angle and help decide the further course of action to drive the project. Moreover, in community-oriented programmes, deriving feedback on whether the programs are achieving the aims in line with community needs and expectations based on monitoring and evaluation proves to be a powerful accountability mechanism. This helps the implementers to do things better and improve the way things are done in a particular ecosystem/organization/place

Monitoring is generally done to assess the stakeholders’ understanding of the project, minimise the risk of project failure, promote systematic and professional management, and assess the progress during implementation. It is a continuous assessment of a programme or project in relation to the agreed implementation schedule, provides continuous feedback on the project implementation and helps in the identification of potential successes and constraints to help the implementers to take decisions then and there. Apart from physical, financial and process monitoring during the implementation of the project, impact monitoring helps one to understand the initial responses and reactions to project activities and their immediate short-term effects. The players and stakeholders in the monitoring process include companies, financiers, implementing agencies, project teams, environmentalists, government departments, expert consultants, academicians, researchers etc. Monitoring reports include the activities undertaken, inputs supplied, money disbursed, timelines followed, action reports, benefits derived in various forms, significant deviations from original plans and stakeholders feedback. 

EVALUATION

Systematic and objective assessment of possible the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and impact of activities in the light of a project/programme performance and progress made against the stated objectives. Apart from the analysis of the intended results it also weighs the specific casual contributions of activities to results, examines implementation process, explores unintended results, provides lessons, highlights significant accomplishments or program potential and offers recommendations for improvement. The evaluation also looks at the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of an intervention. Evaluations include baseline evaluation, interim evaluation, terminal evaluation and ex-post evaluation.
